Rome wasn’t built in a day and you’ll need much more than a day to take in one of the greatest cities on earth. This city is a real life collage of markets, piazzas and timeless structures from history. Some of the attractions include, Trevi Fountain, the Pantheon and 2 of the most important historic sites in modern day history, The Roman Colosseum and Vatican City.
When visiting Rome you have to treat yourself to one of the many Food tours in the city. This is your chance to experience some of the most memorable meals in your life, not to mention in some of the most unlikely venues you’ll ever break bread in. One of the highlights of some of the food tours is being able to make your way through what’s known as the Jewish Ghetto.
The Colosseum also known as the Flavian Amphitheater is one of the most iconic structures, not just in Rome but of all Italy. It’s situated right in the center of the city of Rome and it’s just east of the Roman Forum. Construction began in A.D. 72 and was completed just 8 short year later in 80 A.D.. Back in it’s hey day the Colosseum was home to some of the most respected and fierce battles in history. This was the place many gladiators lost their lives and gained notoriety of infamy. The structure could hold up to 80,000 spectators at any given time.
No visit to Rome would be complete with visiting the Vatican. Vatican City is a city state surrounded by Rome itself and it’s the headquarters of the Roman Catholic Church. It’s also home to the Pope and a treasure trove of iconic art and architecture. The museum on the grounds houses a multitude of art including the Sistine Chapel famous for Michelangelo’s ceiling.
Visit Rome, eat some good food and take in some great culture and art. You will be forever changed after a visit to this iconic city.
